Business and Human Rights Consultant Role

Location: Cardiff/Homebased

Salary: £30,000-40,000 depending on experience

Consultant

We seek an experienced consultant who can work with our team to provide world-class ethical trading and sustainability advisory services to the various UK and international organisations we work with.

This individual will be responsible for:

  • Providing essential support to projects, working closely with the senior members of the team to develop solutions that meet workers’ and business needs supporting the delivery of fieldwork in the UK and internationally

  • Developing and managing client programmes, including the development of practical tools and relevant learning materials

  • Building and managing external relationships with key stakeholders, including the identification of strategic partnerships as well as managing external stakeholder working groups

  • Supporting with tender and proposal writing for future projects

  • Acting as a credible voice for the industry, driving innovation and research which will contribute to more robust and sustainable value chains

  • client acquisition and the generation of new business leads

Your Profile:

You will have demonstrable experience in the following areas:

  • Experience in responsible sourcing programs in a consultancy environment and a detailed understanding of relevant policy and legislation, including labour law, ILO conventions, and international human rights legislation

  • Project management experience, including the planning and delivery of complex work, using initiative and judgement

  • Knowledge of responsible sourcing and/or sustainability landscape, policymaking, and stakeholder engagement processes and a proven ability to navigate and influence such systems

  • A capacity to identify issues and deal with them proactively and effectively to find consensus, achieve meaningful goals and make positive progress

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as an ability to speak confidently in front of an audience

  • Excellent analytical skills, first-class attention to detail, strong organisational and time management skills

  • Strong interest and passion in the type of work ESC International undertakes

 

Highly Desirable Skills

  • Welsh language fluency

  • Professional lead audit experience in ethical trade, labour standards and/or sustainability assessment programmes
